Bolanle Ambode

There is anger at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Lagos State, after the Presiding, Chaplain, Venerable Femi Taiwo, was sacked by the Governing Council allegedly on the order of the state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode without any official reasons attach to his sack letter.

He was said to have been ordered out of his official quarters where he lived with his wife and two children within 24 hours of receiving the letter.
Despite pleadings from church leaders and other reputable elders in the church, the government was said to have insisted that the cleric must leave the church.
Some church members reportedly contributed money to buy gas cooker, and other household items for the family as they vacated the vicarage.
Investigations  showed that Taiwo had angered the Governor’s wife, Bolanle Ambode, who had visited the chapel on Sunday, May 14, when the church held an anointing service.

President Trump calls meeting with Pope Francis an 'honor'

President Trump held a half-hour private meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican Wednesday, declaring it a “great honor” despite their past public dissension.

The unconventional Republican and the first Jesuit pontiff made for an unlikely pair in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace, where Catholic leaders have presided or centuries and American presidents have come or decades.

Francis was silent as the two sat across one another at the pope’s wooden desk to begin the audience at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time. Exactly a half-hour later, the ringing of a bell signified the end of the private encounter.

For the White House, the Vatican stop caps a tour through key sites of the world’s three major religions, following stops in Saudi Arabia and Israel, designed to promote tolerance and a united approach to terrorism.

He is the first WHO director-general from Africa.

Mother watches her daughter dying in severe pains due to unconfirmed pregnancy

“I love you mum, and I'm not pregnant, you've trained me well and I know no man......but I'm sorry I don't really know what is making me feel this way, I wish you send me or my body to the doctors to actually tell you what is wrong with me, I know it won't be pregnancy, trust me, but whatever it'll be...... will be too late for any help” daughter said before she die.

Joanna retched and bent over the toilet bowl. The pain and nausea twisted her stomach until she could not breathe. The stuff came up and burst out, all yellow, slimy, and tasting of bile.

She knew more was coming, so she sat on the bathroom floor waiting. In the interval, the door banged and her mother’s voice asked her to open up. Seconds later, she was standing over her, a look of anger on her face.

I’m sorry if we made Trump’s presidency possible - Twitter co-founder

“Without the tweets, I wouldn't be here,” he told the Financial Times last month. To which Twitter's co-founder says: Sorry about that, world.

If anyone knows how important Twitter is to Donald Trump, it's the president.

Evan Williams, who still sits on the company's board of directors, recently told the New York Times that he wants to repair the damage he thinks Twitter and the broader Internet have wrought on society in the form of trolls, cyberbullies, live-streamed violence, fake news and — yes — Trump.

“I thought once everybody could speak freely and exchange information and ideas, the world is automatically going to be a better place,” Williams told the Times. “I was wrong about that.”

The Nigerian Army stepped up security measures at its facilities across the country this week, after rumours of a budding coup d’état rattled its leadership, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.

Although the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, stressed in a meeting with Acting President Yemi Osinbajo that all threats had been neutralised and democracy would not be truncated, military sources informed PREMIUM TIMES that covert intelligence operation aimed at forestalling Nigeria’s descent into dictatorship had been set in motion across the country.
The sources said military authorities during the week ordered a “covert intrusion” into activities of personnel as one of a string of emergency measures to preempt coup.
“Covert intrusion involves sending secret operatives into military gathering, units, formations and other establishments to get information and early warning of any threat to national security,” sources told PREMIUM TIMES Saturday.

Trump, in Speech to Declare Terrorism a ‘Battle between Good and Evil’

President Trump in RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, planned in a centerpiece speech on Sunday to rally leaders from around the Muslim world in a renewed campaign against extremism, rejecting the idea that the fight is a battle between religions even as he has promised not to chastise them about human rights violations in their own countries.

Mr. Trump, who during last year’s presidential campaign said he thought that “Islam hates us” and proposed a ban on all Muslims entering the United States, will sound different themes, according to prepared text of the speech. While declaring terrorism to be a “battle between good and evil,” he planned to say that it should be fought by “decent people of all religions.”

The White House released advance excerpts from the speech on the second day of Mr. Trump’s inaugural trip overseas as president. His team intended the speech to be the centerpiece of his stop here in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, where he was meeting with Arab leaders and convening a larger gathering of Muslim leaders.

An Under 23 years old man proof to his boss that smoking cigarette naturally is not a sin

“To my Boss, smoking is not a sin neither do I count it as a sin. So why is everybody saying it is a sin? Did God say we should condemn others for smoking?”

Stop living in confusion and embrace the natural law that smoking cigarette is never a sin. Most of the articles I have read on internet pointed to the false natural law that smoking is a sin, hated by God. But, is not because God didn’t say or write it down when He gave His ten commandment.

I went to Ikeja City Mall (Lagos, Western Region of Nigeria) to get my boss some pack of cigarette, right there in front of a cigarette show glass; I centered my eyes on a printed labeled on the pack. The labeled printed in Sans-Serif font, Bold and about 30 Font size.

“Minister of health advice that smokers are liable to die young”

I was not happy with that, I imagine my under forty-years old boss dying young, how will the relatives, friends, and co-staff at work feel?

Sadden as LASPOTECH student commits suicide, what does the mother has to say?

She’d been talking strangely lately – Victim’s mother
The death of a 22-year-old student of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo campus, Damilola Adegoke, in suspected suicide, has shocked her family and friends.

They were worried about what could have prompted the National Diploma 1 student of Business Administration to commit suicide, saying she did not show any sign of being suicidal.

“Never mind what others say. Do better yourself, beat your own records every day, and aim for a better tomorrow… Happy new week peeps,” Adegoke wrote on her Facebook wall on Monday.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that Adegoke, who lived with her mother in the Masasa area of Lagos, took an insecticide – Sniper – while her mother went out to plait her hair the following day.

On returning home around 9pm, it was said that the mother found her gasping on the bed and rushed her to a private hospital in the area, from where she was referred to another hospital. She died on the way.

Our correspondent learnt that no suicide note was found in the apartment and there was no suspicious information on her mobile phone or social media accounts.

However, the mother, who identified herself only as Iya Ibeji and spoke with Saturday PUNCH on the telephone, said she had been using a strange slangs lately when conversing with her. The woman stated that she didn’t want to go out that Tuesday, but Adegoke persuaded her.

She said, “Only two of us lived together and we didn’t have any disagreement. She didn’t quarrel with anybody. That morning, we both ate bread and stew. She said she would use the remaining stew to prepare noodles later in the day. She lay on the bed, pressing her phone while I had a nap on the tiles.

“When I told her I was going to her sister’s shop at First Gate around 1pm, she said, ‘Eyo mi le jare (let me be).’ She started using that slang recently. Her sister and I had questioned her about it. We didn’t read any negative meaning to it. I didn’t want to go out that day, she persuaded me so she could carry out her plan.”

The mother further explained that Adegoke was supp osed to go and tutor a boy in the neighbourhood that day, but she shunned her when asked why she didn’t go.

“On getting back home around 9pm, I met her sleeping and tried to wake her up. That was when I discovered she was in a coma. I smelled sniper in her mouth and raised the alarm. I gave her palm oil and water while people joined me to take her to a private hospital. She could not talk.

“From that hospital, we rushed her to a primary health centre in our community. She was confirmed dead on arrival and we reported to the police. Nothing strange was found on her mobile phone,” she added.

Iya Ibeji, who said her daughter was preparing to sit for second semester exams, noted that it was unusual of Adegoke to absent herself from work, adding that she spoke with her on the telephone around 7pm that day.

She described her as a kind-hearted child, saying the daughter had promised to buy her a pair of earrings, on June 3 as her birthday gift.

Adegoke’s childhood friend and course mate, Faith Omoh, said they spoke happily on the telephone a few hours before the incident happened.

She said, “We talked around 7pm that day and she was cheerful. I was shocked when her mother told me she drank snipper. Damilola (Adegoke) was friendly and likeable. We checked her mobile phone and Whatsapp chats, we didn’t find any suspicious information there.

“We both gained admission to study Business Administration at LASPOTECH  last year and our second semester examination is about to start.”

One of the deceased’s friends on Facebook, Damilola Ayanwale, wondered why she resorted to the act, saying she had left behind unforgettable memories.

Anyanwale wrote, “No amount of problem is worth taking your own life. She was hard working and highly dedicated, but only her knows her personal pains and challenges…in fact, nothing justifies taking poison. Farewell Damilola Adegoke, we will remember you forever.”

Another friend, Frank Chinedu Maximus, wrote, “This girl could not have killed herself, proper investigation should be carried out.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, had yet to reply to a text message sent to him on the incident.

An Oredo Magistrate’s Court in Benin, Edo State, has sentenced a 23-year-old bus driver to two y

The driver, identified as one Osaro Ayewah, was however, given an option of fine of N10,000 for each of the two count-charges on break-in and entry and stealing.

The sentence is also expected to run concurrently.

The police prosecutor, Ojo Thomas, had said that the offence was committed at about 10am on May 5, 2017, when he broke into Osayande’s residence located on Ogumweuyi Street, within Aruogba community.

Thomas had said that the offences were punishable under Section 411(2) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 48, Vol. II, Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976, as applicable in Edo.

Welder defile and impregnated a 13 year old in Abia

Ugochukwu Oleka, is responsible for the defilement and impregnation
Oleka an eye-witness, who works in Azikiwe Asa in Aba, said he only had a carnal knowledge of the girl on one occasion, blamed the devil for his action.
A welder identified as Ugochukwu Oleka, is responsible for the defilement and impregnation of  a 13-year-old girl in Aba, Abia State.

Pleading for forgiveness for what he did, the suspect explained that he lost control of himself when the victim embraced him on the day she visited his house to run an errand for him.

He said, “I feel so bad for I what I did, the girl is the niece to my friend. We were living in the same compound before I parked to my current apartment.

“Later, my friend asked me to help him to look for a new apartment and I found one for him on my street. Since he parked to my street, we have been visiting each other and the girl has been running errands for me.

“Unfortunately, one day the girl came to my house and embraced me. That was how I started having feelings for her. The devil caused it.

“I know that I shouldn’t have done what I did; I had not done that kind of thing before, but the way she embraced me made me lose control of myself. I am pleading with everybody to forgive me.”

The suspect, who regretted that his wife left his house with his daughter because of the incident, vowed to take care of the victim until she puts to bed.

The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Mr. Adeleye Oyebade, who paraded the suspect at the Command’s headquarters in Umuahia, said Oleka was arrested by police operatives attached to the Central police station, Aba, following a complaint made by one Daniel Efuruezu, an uncle to the rape victim.

The CP added that the command had concluded investigation on the case and added that medical examination had revealed that the victim was two months pregnant.

Efuruezu, who said the suspect was his friend, pointed out that his neighbours had reported to him that he (suspect) had been visiting his house at odd hours of the day when he must have gone to work to hold closed-door discussions with his niece.

He added that when he confronted his friend on the issue, he neither denied nor accepted the accusation, but he nonchalantly asked him to bring the girl to his house if she was pregnant.

Eferezu said, “When my neighbours told me of Oleka’s frequent visits to my house when I was away, I went to his house on two occasions to see him, but he refused to allow me see him, rather he sent a message through his wife that I should bring my niece to him if I said he impregnated her. That was why I reported the matter to the police.”

The victim, a Primary 6 pupil, however told Southern City News that the suspect had slept with her for more than seven times.

She said Oleka promised to be giving her money to buy biscuits and warned her not to disclose their affairs to anybody.

Women protest nakedness to defend Biafra

The Indigenous People of Biafra on Friday In Protest - Unknown
The Indigenous People of Biafra on Friday accused soldiers from the military cantonment at Ohafia, Abia State of attacking its women at a meeting at Abiriba while identifying with IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement made available to journalists in Awka, IPOB media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, alleged that the Nigeria Police  joined the soldiers in the humiliation, molestation, manhandling and humiliation of the women, who did not commit any crime but for identifying with the cause of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Investigation by Southern City News showed that the women had to strip  themselves naked on sighting the security agents approaching  to molest  them.

But the IPOB media and publicity secretary insisted that the soldiers stormed the venue of the meeting with 20 Hilux vans, alleging that without provocation, the soldiers started beating, arresting and tearing the women’s clothes off their bodies.

He noted that some of the women were stripped naked before they were taken to the army barracks at Ohafia.

The statement said in part: “The Indigenous People of Biafra and its leadership worldwide condemn the unprofessional conduct of the Nigerian Army located at Ohafia against the Biafran and IPOB women’s general meeting holding in Abiriba, Abia State.

“Food, clothes and accessories belonging to the women were seized by the soldiers and taken to the Ohafia barracks.

“This undemocratic conduct of the Nigeria Army must be condemned by all civilized people and nations. The approach to civil policing adopted by the army makes a mockery of common sense and decency.

“Is it the duty of the army to be going about stripping women naked for no justifiable reason?”

“We further gathered from an eye witness at the conference venue that some of the women who were arrested by the Nigerian Army were totally stripped naked.

“This is the highest form of criminal brutality against Biafrans by security apparatus and we wonder when this crime against humanity and unprofessional conduct of the Nigerian Army will stop.

“We are therefore calling on the women organisations around the globe to condemn and take this abuse of Biafra women by the Nigerian Army to the rest of the world.

“We also call on Queen Elizabeth II of England, the British Prime Minister, Theresa May, the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel and other notable women, including human rights organisations across the world, to protect the rights of Biafran women from the hands of the Nigerian Army.”

When contacted on the telephone, the deputy director, Army Public Relations of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sagir Musa said he didn’t know anything about the incident.

I could not withstand it so I denied my husband for making love with me

Wonder shall never end as Mrs. Modupe Alegbeleye purge out all what is in her mind to Ikole-Ekiti customary court in Ekiti state, western part of Nigeria.

Ikole-Ekiti, (Ekiti State) – A 44-year-old wife, Modupe Alegbeleye, on Thursday told an Ikole-Ekiti Customary Court in Ekiti that she denied her husband, Ebenezer Alegbeleye, sex because of the cigarette odour from him.

Modupe said this while replying to a statement by her husband that she denied him sex for three months. According to her, my husband likes smoking cigarettes but I do not like its odour.
“So, whenever he smoked and demanded sex; I was always turning down his demand as I hated cigarette’s odour”.

Although, I knew that my husband was a cigarette smoker before we started our relationship, I was always advising him to stop it.

“I was also praying so that he would quit it, but to no avail. “That is why, sometimes, I would ask him to take his bath before making love to me. “

I  also denied him sex because “I did not want more children based on the experience I had when I was to give birth to our second child. I lost the baby due to lack of proper care for the baby and me from my husband’’ the woman said.

The husband, however, told the court that he needed more children because he was the only child of his mother.

“I am the only child of my mother. When my wife gave birth to our only son 10, years ago, I told her she would bear me more children. But my wife said no; and she has been denying me any romantic advances I make to her” Alegbeleye said.

He told the court that peace would reign between them without separation, “If my wife will change her attitude and agree to bear me more children. “She will also agree to take proper care of me by cooking my meals, which she had denied me for long.” The court’s president, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, adjourned the case until May 22 for judgment after all efforts made to reconcile them proved unsuccessful.

Ronaldo ready to unleash Madrid to awaiting potential

Ronaldo in action (see body like Batista)
Real Madrid’s apex predator struck again on Wednesday evening against Celta Vigo, powering home two of their four goals in a 4-1 win. Cristiano Ronaldo is sharp, showing absolutely no signs of slowing down in the dying weeks of the season, and it is for that very reason that both Barcelona and Juventus should be very concerned.

Ronaldo His own awareness and admittance of his age has stood him in fantastic stead to help Real Madrid lift both their first LaLiga title since 2012, and successive Champions League trophies under Zinedine Zidane Gym work, different regimes and an acceptance that rest is vital have not just been three pillars on which Ronaldo has built the end of his season. Real Madrid’s trophy aspirations very much rest on the same foundations.
In his last eight competitive games, the 32-year-old has netted 13 goals, including two Champions League semi-final hat tricks.

All of his preparation has led up to this moment. Two games, the first against Malaga tomorrow, which could add two trophies to an already bulging legacy. There is perhaps nothing more dangerous than a Cristiano Ronaldo that accepts the limits of his own body, but not the possibilities it can still offer in and around the penalty box

“There is still one game to go.  We know that we have to keep going right until the end, and team has been really good, we’ve played well, with confidence. We know that Málaga are strong at home, but we have to concentrate on ourselves, go there, and win.” “We’re going there for a win.
This team always has that objective. We’re Real Madrid and we have to demonstrate that we’re better and that we want to be the champions.” Speaking of a possible double, he stated that  “we’re thinking exclusively about Sunday.  We have to win to be the champions. After, we have 15 days to prepare for the Champions League.”

“No perfect family” - Pope Francis I

“There is no perfect family. We do not have perfect parents, we do not marry perfect people nor have perfect children” Pope Francis I

We have issues with one another. We disappoint one another. So there is no healthy marriage or healthy family without the exercise of forgiveness. Forgiveness is vital to our emotional health and spiritual survival. Without forgiveness the family becomes an arena of conflict and a stronghold of hurt. Without forgiveness, the family becomes ill. Forgiveness is the asepsis of the soul, the cleansing of the mind and the liberation of the heart.  Hurt is poison that intoxicates and kills. Keeping heartache in the heart is a self-destructive gesture. It is autophagy. Those who do not forgive are physically, emotionally and spiritually ill – Pope Francis I

You do not have to be a Roman Catholic, or even a Christian, for the papal message to make sense. Every family has issues and if all families were to bring their issues to the public domain, they would take over the entire space and shut out other issues of life. Learn to privately sort out your family issues. Family issues are like the human body we all clothe. Just imagine if all mankind were to walk around naked: those flabby bodies, pot bellies the size of a nine-month-twins pregnancy, men with size 38-bra breasts, micro and extra large sex organs, cellulite, deformities, diseases, over-sized bums sitting on stick-like legs and all other orishirishi clothes cover would be put in the public domain.

Just thinking of it alone is so discomforting and unnerving. So, as we cover our bodies and shield all the orishirishi from public view and scrutiny, so family issues should be shielded from public view and sorted out within or privately. Surely, the linen can be privately cleaned or dry-cleaned. Cleaning linen publicly serves no useful purpose most times, it only worsens the situation.

She even uses some unprintable words Everyone knows that former Big Brother Naija housemate TBoss is controversial but her latest outburst against those who insulted her mother was quite surprising.

In an Instagram live video, TBoss started by asking why anyone would insult her mother seeing that they don’t know her.

She then began to rain curses on those who wrote the insult saying if they were women; they would never become parents and if they were men, their seeds would just be a waste as it would never turn into children.
